we are delighted to be holding our end of project exhibition at: MillenNium galleries, Sheffield Museums, sheffield 12-20 October, 2019
The exhibition brings together everything we've learned about women's activism in the North of England over the last 100 years, showcasing campaigns led by women from Yorkshire, Lancashire, Manchester, Cumbria, Durham and Newcastle.
Empowering Women, Empower Womentells the stories of women involved in a wide range of activist movements. From Women Against Pit Closures to the WI Keep Britain Tidy campaign, the Leeds Clothing Strike and anti-fracking activism.
The exhibition shows how women have challenged power and changed polices in creative and controversial ways, and demonstrates that in doing so, they have challenged attitudes about women’s role in activism, changed the places where they live and work, and created new sites and forms of resistance.
